Obituary of Susan Diunte

Susan L. Diunte, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2014 after a battle with lung cancer. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, nurse and friend, Susan brought light wherever she traveled. Born in Bronx, N.Y. on November 21, 1940, Susan attended New Rochelle High School, where she went on to earn her certification as a licensed practical nurse. She spent over 15 years working as a nurse for the Queens Long Island Medical Group, providing warm care for the thousands of patients that came across her path. As a parent and grandparent, Susan was deeply devoted to her family, always freely giving to her loved ones even until her final days. All of her kids were her “pride and joy,” and she was the biggest supporter of all of their endeavors. She was preceded in death by her parents Emanuel and Roslyn (Schinder) Teich, and her former husbands Raymond Wright and Nicholas Diunte. She is survived by her three children; Rachel (Wright) Thurber and son-in-law James; her son Nicholas; her daughter Melissa (Diunte) Abruzzino and son-in-law Christopher; her brother Larry and sister-in-law Eileen; and her six grandchildren, Courtney, Jack, Cassidy, Jameson, Michael and Grace. Memorial services will be at Fox Funeral Home, 98-07 Ascan Avenue, Forest Hills, N.Y. on Saturday September 27, 2014. Viewing will be from 2-5PM and the memorial service from 7-9 PM. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to CancerCare Events 275 Seventh Ave., 22nd Floor, New York, NY 10001, indicating support of Melissa Abruzzino’s “team.”
