Obituary of Richard Genova

Richard Joseph Genova, 90 of Forest Hills and Middle Island, NY passed away in his home with his loving wife Regina, of 64 years by his side, on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016. He will be dearly missed by his wife, six children, seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Richard was a man of strong character and unfailing integrity, which were rooted in his deep Catholic faith, devotion to his large family and profession as a Civil Engineer for the City of New York Transit Authority. He was in the very first graduating class of Forest Hills High School and achieved academic distinction in completing a major in Engineering from Manhattan University in just 3 years. Richard served our country in the US Army’s Armored Calvary division and upon graduation he married Regina Wackerman, RN and they began their family in Brooklyn, moving to their own home in Rego Park, Queens and the parish of Resurrection Ascension where they ensured that each of their children benefited from a strong foundation of a loving family and a catholic education. A charming and stalwart gentleman with a quick smile and sharp wit, Richard balanced his hard work and dedication for family and career by his interests in tennis, golf and the arts. As self-taught painter, Richard had a number of private showings of his works in Long Island and Queens. “God made the Angels to show Him Splendor, as He made animals for innocence and plants for their simplicity.
