Obituary of Roupine Movsesian
Roupine Movsesian, 104, of Forest Hills, NY Roupine Movsesian, a lifelong resident of Forest Hills known for her intelligence, kindness, and warmth, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2025. She was 104. Born in Constantinople, she immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of six. They settled in Forest Hills, where she would spend nearly a century within the same few blocks. A rooted and deeply family-oriented woman, she was devoted to her parents, her brother, her husband Arthur Movsesian—her partner of more than 50 years—and her two sons, Matthew and Mark. A brilliant student, Roupine graduated at the top of her high school class. Though family circumstances prevented her from attending college, she remained intellectually engaged throughout her life—reading the New York Times daily, reciting poetry and Scripture from memory, and following world events with curiosity and insight. She was a woman of grace, style, and deep Christian faith. She made people feel welcome and valued, often through quiet acts of generosity. She gave anonymously, listened patiently, and never let a guest—or caregiver—go hungry. She passed on a strong Armenian identity and a lasting sense of humility, gratitude, and service to her family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Satenik, and a circle of extended family and friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and kindness. May she rest in peace.
