Ronnie was one of the Catechists of my RCIA class and was the first person I spoke to at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs when I started the process to become Catholic. We all loved hearing her stories about what it was like to grow up Catholic, especially during the transition period after Vatican II. I'll miss her sense of humor the most, like when she teased me about my handwriting. :)
She never forgot any of us after we were confirmed. For example, earlier this year, she sent me a text on the feast day of my confirmation saint, giving me more information about him. She encouraged me to keep continuing to grow in the faith and help others to find their way to Christ. I hope that one day I can help others in the same way that she helped so many.

In loving memory of Ronnie,
I met Ronnie at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs when I first began asking about becoming Catholic. She was the first person I spoke to, and from the start, she welcomed me with warmth and kindness.
Ronnie became my catechist and played a big role in my journey into the Church. She patiently walked with me through the process, answering my questions with faith, gentleness, and joy. Her love for Christ and His Church was clear in everything she did.
She was sweet, funny, and full of grace. I truly believe God placed her in my life for a reason, and I will always be thankful for her example and guidance.
May she rest in the peace of Christ.

I have known Ronnie for many years in the parish but we really never connected. Just hi’s and hello’s.
When my husband passed away in 2022, she approached me and offered her sympathy. Then we started connecting and sharing our experiences as a widow. The last time we got together was when we attended the diocesan luncheon for
the Catholic Appeal and she offered me a ride. It was a short lived friendship but a memorable one.
Rest in peace, Ronnie.

We join with everyone from our OLQM family mourning the loss of a great friend, Ronnie McCarthy.
We met her initially as our daughter Elise's OLQM RelEd teacher for Elise's Communion prep in 2018. A very warm, engaging teacher, Elise's interest in our faith grew exponentially under Ronnie's guidance. Elise always asked 'why?' about things, and Ronnie always took Elise to answers Elise would understand.
As a measure of gratitude to Ronnie for her mentoring, Elise asked Ronnie to be her Confirmation sponsor. After Ronnie happily said yes, Elise took it a step further and requested the name 'Veronica' as her Saint for her Confirmation name.
With our involvement with church and friendship with Ronnie, we also found the time to celebrate the friendship in get-togethers in our home or at our favorite restaurants. Ronnie was a fun spirit, always good company!
With her passing, the world has become a little sadder, and lost some color for us all. We will continue to love her as much in Heaven as we did on Earth, and know in our hearts she's at peace.
Love, always,
Eric, Michelle & Elise Sonntag

In Loving Memory of Ronnie
Our meeting wasn’t just a coincidence, it was something guided by faith and God’s timing. When I reached out last year looking for catechism classes, I had no idea that simple email would lead me to someone who would become such a powerful presence in my life. I didn’t know who was on the other end of that message, but I found myself opening up about my personal life and family to someone who already felt familiar. Before I knew it, I was scheduled to begin classes the very next day.
Something always seems to come up that keeps us from following through on things whether it's timing, distance, or doubt. I remember wondering if the church was too far, or if the class time was too late with my girls’ bedtime. But from the moment I walked into the classroom and met Ronnie, all of those worries just disappeared. She had a presence that made you feel calm, welcomed, and seen. It was as if she knew exactly what you needed, even without you having to say it.
Ronnie was more than a teacher to me. She was a guide, a mentor, and a light. She had this quiet strength and grace that made everything around her flow with ease. The way she organized, led, and brought people together felt like second nature, as if she was simply living out what she was meant to do. Her love for God radiated in everything she did, and that love didn’t just stay with her, it touched everyone who came into her life, including my daughters and so many others in our church community.
This is a very hard loss for me to accept. I truly believed I had so much more to learn from her. I hoped one day I could pass on what she gave me and be that kind of guiding light to others, especially the younger generation. But I know I have to trust in God's timing, just as I trusted Him when He first led me to her.
Ronnie, may you rest in the peace and glory of God. Thank you for everything you gave me, my family, and all the lives you touched. Your light will continue to shine through each of us.
With gratitude and love,
Grace De Pena & Family
Gia & Zoe send their love and will pray for you

In Loving Memory of Ronnie,
We give thanks to God for the life and gentle spirit of Ronnie, a faithful religious teacher who shared the love of Christ with so many in our parish. Although she was called Home before many could complete their faith journey at OLQM including my parents, her dedication and kindness will not be forgotten.
Ronnie walked with others on their journey of faith, offering her time, knowledge, and gentleness. Her devotion was clear, not just to the program, but to the people in it, meeting them where they are at and building on the foundations—to those searching for a deeper relationship with God. In that, she fulfilled her calling beautifully.
My parents and I will remember her with gratitude and affection, and we trust that the seeds she planted in faith will continue to bear fruit for many who had their life paths crossed with hers. May she rest in peace with Christ, whom she served so faithfully. We know that she deserves her seat with the angels. We also send our condolences to her family and friends at this time of loss.
With prayers, gratitude, and love,
Elizabeth Ann J. Kim
On behalf of my parents, Paul and Clara.

My deepest sympathy to the family and many friends who cherished Ronnie. I was fortunate to meet Ronnie when we both were attending the training, which led us both to become Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. Ronnie was a deeply spiritual woman and loyal daughter of the Church. I remember her for the many contributions she made to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs. My thoughts are also with Fr. Passenant, Bishop Sanchez and the rest of the ordained and lay ministers of Queen of Martyrs. May Ronnie's memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her and may she rest in peace and rise in glory on the last day.
Most Sincerely,
Raymond J. Cullen
