Carlos C. Ferreira Obituary

Carlos Ferreira, a man whose magnetic personality and boundless humor lit up every room he entered, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025. He was 77 years old. Surrounded by those that loved him, his passing concluded a courageous, nearly five-year battle with pancreatic cancer, a fight he faced with the same tenacity and wit that defined his life.

To know Carlos was to be captivated by him. He was a New Yorker through and through—born in Manhattan, with a stint in Brooklyn, but at his heart, he was always a Queens guy. He had an unmatched gift for finding humor in every single thing and lived his life to the absolute fullest.

His greatest joy, however, was his family. He was the beloved husband and the love of his wife Miriam’s life, with whom he shared 41 beautiful years. He was a deeply proud and beloved father to his daughter, Monica, and her husband, Matt. He adored his role as “Papa” to his grandchildren, Charlie and Camila, who were the light of his life. He was also an adoring uncle to Derek, Blake, and Sonja.

A decorated veteran, Carlos served his country with valor in the Vietnam War, earning both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Professionally, Carlos was a broadcast engineer whose career mirrored his lifelong passion for the latest technology and gadgets.

Carlos embraced every moment. He enjoyed nothing more than a good meal, fine wine, and most importantly to Carlos, great company. He was an avid golfer, loving both the highs and lows of playing and the joys of watching. He was also a passionate skier, enjoying the slopes well into his senior years. His charismatic energy, his booming laughter, and his generous spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Miriam Ferreira; his daughter Monica Gimlett and her husband, Matt Gimlett; his grandchildren Charlie Gimlett and Camila Gimlett; his brother, Frank Ferreira; and his adoring nephews and niece, Derek Famulari, Blake Famulari, William Tonic  and Sonja Ferreira, respectively.
