Maria Josephine Stavropoulos, 75, of Forest Hills, New York, passed away on December 1st. She was born to Filomena and Aldo Ciccotelli and grew up in a devoted, hard-working household alongside her brother, Enzo. That upbringing shaped her into the brave, loyal woman her family depended on throughout her life.
Maria was a skilled artist, and took great pride in cooking and baking for her family. She approached all pursuits with a trailblazing spirit, and her considerable talents were a reliable source of comfort for the people she loved.
Maria is survived by her children: Steven Stavropoulos and his wife Dominique; and Philip Stavropoulos and his wife Evette. She was preceded in death by her son, Nicholas.
Maria is also survived by her grandchildren — Sophia, Nicholas and Alexandros Stavropoulos — who brought her tremendous joy and pride, as well as her loving and dedicated brother, Enzo.
Maria held a close relationship with her nieces and nephews — Diana, Aldo, and Anthony Ciccotelli — and took special joy in the next generation: Julia and Scotty, children of Diana; and Enzo and Emilio, children of Aldo. Their energy and affection were a bright part of her later years.
