Duane Wesley Farabaugh, of Forest Hills NY, born on July 6, 1931, died peacefully on February 28, 2026.  He was born in Latrobe, PA to Modestus (“Des”) and Aurelia (nee Schall) Farabaugh.  He attended Derry Township High School, worked at Kennametal in Latrobe, PA, graduated from St. Vincent College, and furthered his education later on.  While at Kennametal and simultaneously doing a degree at Saint Vincent he served in the United States Army Reserve. He then taught science at Lindenhurst Junior High School in Lindenhurst, NY for many years, and following his retirement taught for several years at the Long Island School for the Gifted in Huntington Station, New York.  Most recently he was an active member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 20 years, which he enjoyed very much. Throughout his life, Duane has been an avid artist, belonging to several art associations.  He focused mainly on landscapes and portraits.

Duane is survived by his wife Ellen of 54 years, his sons Duane (and wife Ann), Brian, and daughter Mary Ellen Owens and husband Richard Owens, and grandchildren Thomas, Clara and Catherine Owens.  He is also survived by his nieces Sandra Burd (and husband Joe) of Latrobe, PA, Mary Landis (and husband Bill) of Derry, PA, and sons Bill and Josh and their families.

He was interred at St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village after a funeral mass at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Forest Hills, NY on March 5, 2026.
