Born on June 10, 1985 in Batangas City in the Philippines, John is the younger son of Maria Montes and Jaime Masonsong. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in Flushing, New York and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice – City University of New York. John is survived by his mother, Maria; his brother, James; his Shih Tzu/Yorkie baby sister, Pebbles; his partner, Jennine; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and dear friends. He served as an Emergency Medical Technician and worked in health and occupational safety for Amphibious Medics. John is a devotee of select New York sports teams – namely, the Mets, Giants, Rangers, and Knicks. He is an animal lover, a drummer, a culinarian, a music fan, a sports fiend, an effortless comic, a trivia maven, a talented singer, a justice seeker, and a selfless human being. John’s incomparable spirit, humor and light have left an indelible impact on so many. He is incredibly missed by his family, friends and community.
