Elizabeth Rose Minerva (nee’ Biss) died on February 12, 2020 at the age of 96. She was living with her daughter in Forest Hills, NY at the time. Elizabeth was married to Dr. Martin M. Minerva for 43 years, until his death in 1995. She is survived by her four children, Michael, Donna (husband, Peter), Rosanne (husband, Mark) and Martin (wife, Debbie), as well as four grandchildren, David, Johanna, Julian, and Luke. Elizabeth was born on September 15, 1923 to Michael and Johanna Biss, in Penn, Pennsylvania. She graduated from St. John’s Nursing School in Pittsburg, PA in 1944 and served as a nurse in the US Army from 1944-1952, reaching the rank of Captain. She served in post-WWII Europe and during the Korean Conflict, in Panama. She met her husband, Martin who was also a Captain in the army while they were both stationed in Panama. Elizabeth and Martin lived in Rockville Centre, NY until his death and she continued to live there until 2019. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother and daughter, always taking care of the family she loved. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the NY Yankees, and also loved music–Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole being her favorite singers–as well as reading her newspaper everyday, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family.
