Libia Luz Casallas, aged 56, died peacefully on Sept. 10th 2013 at her mother's home after a long struggle with cancer. Libia was born Febuary 8th 1957 in Colombia, the daughter of Jose Antonio and Maria Concepcion Casallas. Her hard work transformed a modest house into the home she had always envisioned living in. Libia earned a degree in Advertising Design at Brooklyn Technical College. Later, she would earn a degree in Sonography from The Institute of Allied Medical Professions. Libia was a highly sought after sonographer in New York. It was not uncommon for Libia to juggle working for 3 different doctor's offices at the same time. Libia dedicated her life to ensure all of their needs had been met, including putting them through college at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. More recently Libia added Tricia Anne Ducharme as her beloved daughter in law. In June of 2013 Libia became grandmother to her first grandson Elias Marc Eslava.
