Leslie Rajigah, 86, died on Saturday, September 5 at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis, sons Ryan, Marlon, Brian, daughter Joy, grandchildren Andrew, Ian, Alicia, Natalia, Viresh, and Nathaniel. He was married to the love of his life, Mavis for 57 years.
Born and raised in Guyana, South America, Leslie was a senior county public health inspector. After migrating to the United States he was employed by New York State in the same public health capacity. Post retirement he continued to pursue his passion for helping others by working at the Department of Labor assisting others to find employment.
A mentor and father figure to many, Leslie is known to family, friends and colleagues as a selfless, unassuming, patient, and compassionate person. His warm smile, kind heart, and quiet ways won the respect and love of all those who were fortunate to know him.
Our hearts are broken that he is no longer with us and he will be profoundly missed by his loving family.
