Dear Stephen,
I wish to express my sympathy in the passing of your mother. We have known each other since the early 1970's and have kept in touch sporadically over the intervening years. Even more so in the past 20 years that you have devoted to caring for your mother. I first spoke to your mother in the 1980's and have had the privilege in recent years to enjoy her company- along with you- on many occasions; the party at Bergdorf Goodman; the opening of the Metropolitan Museum exhibits, especially the CHARLES JAMES: BEYOND FASHION exhibit; my private party after the Charles James opening; and an occasional dinner at your home. I know you will miss her very much, but you do have wonderful photograph and memories of you yearly family visits to Switzerland, France and occasionally Italy.
