Obituary of Joseph V Toto
Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Vito Toto passed on January 21, 2020, a lifelong resident of Glendale, New York. Joe was born on August 9, 1938 to loving parents Vito and Angela. Joe is survived by his beloved siblings, Gus Toto of Bellmore, NY, Rosemary Dooley of Levittown, NY and Toni Glasco of Manhasset, New York. Like many Italian families of his era, Joe's extended family of uncles, aunts and cousins would gather at his family's home for a traditional Italian dinner every Sunday. These dinners would be a stepping stone for his children to learn about their roots and the bond of family history.
When Joe was a young man he was enlisted in the Army. After his tour of duty Joe met and married the love of his life Joan.
Together they raised three boys in Ridgewood and Glendale. Their oldest son, Michael moved to Tennessee where he married Donna and raised their daughters Stephanie and Tiffany. His son William married his childhood sweet heart Monica Barrios in 1986 and they reside in Levittown, NY. They have one son, Nicholas who adored his grandfather and considered him his “tough act to follow”. Nick and his fiancée reside in Levittown where they are raising two beautiful young girls, Avery and Skylar and their sweet son Christian. All three loved their great grandpa and the oldest two are sadly confused as to why he is no longer with us. His youngest son, Joseph James lives in Cresskill NJ with his wife Dawn. They have four children, Michelle, Jacqueline, Caroline and Joseph Gerard who love and adore their Pop-pop.
Joe loved his work as a Master Plumber. He became a partner of Kew Forest Plumbing with Ken Lundin. Joe worked there many years and had the pleasure of working alongside his sister Rosemary who worked in the office. During this time Joe and Joan were able to explore the world. They would travel to Europe, the Caribbean and the United States. They had a very exciting life.
After his retirement Joe was diagnosed with Parkinson disease. Joan and his sons would like everyone to remember him as the strong, loyal and loving man. Everyone has a Joe Toto story. He was loved and revered by many and would be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
