Obituary of Theresa O'Rourke
Please share a memory of Theresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Theresa Gemma O’Rourke (Neé Williams) was born in Mardi Gras, St. George’s, Grenada on April 8th, 1960. She was the youngest child of Albertina Rose Jogie and Abraham Clement Williams. Her siblings include Magdalene, Lorna, Nazarene, Claudette, Beryl, Victor, Godwin, Gordon, Renolph, and Allen. She spent her childhood in her family’s village of Ford. She was an avid reader and received high marks at St. Andrew’s Anglican school.
She migrated to the United States with her two-year-old son, Damion Garvin, in search of the American Dream. She raised her son in Forest Hills, where she became a well-known member of the community. She was proud to care for others as a nurse’s aide. In 1992, she met the love of her life, Joseph O’Rourke, whose sapphire eyes locked with her own across the dance floor. Their true love shined in the birth of their daughter, Shannon Elizabeth.
Anyone who knew Terri knew that she happiest when cooking for her loved ones. She loved entertaining her diverse group of friends and was the life of the party. She enjoyed dancing and making others smile. She was a warrior, whether it was road-tripping with her daughter, or fighting lung cancer for nearly ten years. She is survived by her beloved children, siblings, nieces and nephews, family and friends. We love you.
