Chick, as all knew him, was 81 years at the time of his death on January 11, 2022. He was at home, in Briny Breezes Florida, with his family and companion.
Chick was born in Jamaica NY, son of William and Audrey on August 15, 1940, hailing from Jamaica Estates & Oak Beach, NY. Chick married Mary McCourt in August of 1965. Forty-eight-years of marriage, they resided in Forest Hills and summered in Oak Beach, where they enjoyed a rich social life, and raised a family of four children. Chick is preceded in death by his wife, Mary. Chick is survived by his children Michael, Megan, John, and Suzanne, brother Neail Behringer, eight grandchildren Nolan and Chloe Behringer mother Megan Abate wife of Michael, Connor and Katlyn Kestenbaum father Kenneth Kestenbaum husband of Megan, and Kerry, Jack, Ryan, and Colleen mother Debra Behringer wife of John.
Neail, from Islamorada FL, was more than a brother but a friend and confidant through life, as kids the brothers were beach bums and fisherman at Oak Beach. Chick worked in sales and eventually a self-owned company Mr. Sign until retirement in 2002. Chick moved full time to Briny with Mary in 2010. Chick loved Briny Breezes and his life as a merry widower with his significant other Kennedy O’Grady whom he loved and lived with until his passing. Chick felt lucky to live by the sea, and among friends, may he Rest in Peace.
