Uga was in Paris Tennessee and studying with Nelson and Neal when I met him. He had a pet monkey that had the run of his house. He was so interesting and shared many a time together talking drinking and discussing music. John Thomas

I first met Uga in 6th grade Central School Grand Haven,MI. Our mutual interest in music and science joined us together until he left in 8th grade for Curtiss Institute of Music in Philadelphia. After a family trip to visit him along with his parents at his apartment in Philadelphia in 1959 my father passed away shortly after returning to GH. In the following years I had the opportunity to visit Uga in Baltimore at Peabody and in Paris, Tenn. where he has studying with piano duo Nelson and Neal. I also made one trip to Queens to visit him at his parent's home there. We shared many great childhood memories....I was always proud of his accomplishments and express my deepest sympathy for your loss. Uga Grants was a beloved faculty member of the Latvian Young Musicians' Master Classes held in Latvia. The Master Classes' teachers and piano students send their deepest sympathy to Nadina Grants.
