My condolences to the entire Citrano family. Concerta was like a 2nd mother to so many of us growing up in Forest Hills during our weekly visits for ice cream.
This memory comes to mind, I was only 12 years old and our group was sitting at the counter. I had just finished my standard, Hot fudge sundae, vanilla ice cream and the world famous Eddie's Sweet Shop whip cream.
For the first and only time I wanted a second sundae, but I didn't have enough money. Mrs Citrano skeptically looked at me and said " Are you sure you can finish a 2nd sundae Mr. Hoffman?"
In front of all my friends, I exclaimed that of course I could finish a 2nd sundae, not problem. Mrs Citrano said that if I could FINISH the 2nd sundae that she would pay for it. Well, it was time to put my money where my mouth was. It took a long while and with a few glasses of water, I finished that sundae.
I could barely get off the stool to walk home. Mrs Citrano taught me a very valuable lesson that day.
