I just was given the news of Wayne's death.
I worked with Wayne when I lived in New York State on a variety of project, and over that time I came to hold Wayne in high admiration. He was a quick wit, smart as hell, and he loved his family and of course our profession: funeral service.
Wayne was a funeral director's funeral director. He was caring, concerned, and compassionate in abundance, and he was also a natural leader. People just gravitated to him. I enjoyed my time with Wayne everytime.
Over time, I left New York State, and my journey took me far away from beautiful upstate New York, but I will always remember the Metropolitan meetings, the state association meetings, and the private projects that Wayne and I did together.
My sympathy to all the family.
Sally might recall what a terrible dancer I am?

Sally and family, I am sadden by Wayne’s passing. He was not only a friend and colleague, he was my mentor. He inspired me to become “all that I was capable of being’, personally and professionally! The words, eloquent gentleman and loyal friend describe him best. Rest easy my friend….

I remember Wayne as a really great guy. When my father Frank "Pop" Wade died in 1976, I flew to NY with my wife Ozzie and my daughters Jenny and Chrissy and we took a taxi to Fox Funeral Home where my father was lying in state. Wayne graciously loaned us one of the Fox Cadillac hearses so we could go to lunch and ride around the Gardens. It was very kind of Wayne and I have always remembered it.
I want to extend my condolences to Noel and the rest of the Baxter family. Thank you.

Sally and family, we can not exspess our sincere sympathy for your loss of Wayne. It took apart of Terry's heart when he loss his BFF. He'll never have another friend like Wayne. they've been through so much together and such close friends for over 40 years. That hole will never be filled! Our only regret was that because of Terry's amputation they were unable to say goodbye in person. Please know what you both ment to us and lets try to remember the happy times. Please know you're always in our hearts. Terry and Gail VanValkenburgh

Meeting Wayne, is meeting a friend for life! We played Penuckle many nights in the Freshman dorm at W&J and subsequently pledged Phi Gamma Delta to become brothers for life, He lived life joyfully and not a conversation went by without him expressing his humble love for and admiration of Sally, then including his three children, then including his grandchildren. It was hard for him to believe he was so lucky in life. He didn’t realize that he was getting what he gave in life. As much as he focused on his family, he still found time to devote to his community which included his church and the Episcopal Diocese. It has been a great honor and pleasure to have known Wayne and his whole family.

My admiration and respect for Wayne will remain with me forever. Wayne's mannerisms always reminded me of my good friend, Tom Lynch, from Michigan. Kind, soft spoken and truly interested in others are the traits which I will always carry through my life of Wayne.
We both go back years when our fathers were active in the state association. They were a different generation and we forged our own generation in funeral service.
I want to express my condolences to the entire family and will remember you in my thoughts and prayers.
I feel that much richer in life for having known Wayne. God bless.

I had met Wayne via my dad, Phil Perotto. They both had served the NYSFDA as board member's, past president's etc I could immediately tell Wayne had a passion for serving others.
It was when my dad's father (grandpa) passed I learned just how thoughtful/respectful a man Wayne was. He showed up for grandpa's visitation came in said hello, paid his respects to my dad and then said we could put him to work.
As one could imagine it was all hands on deck at our funeral home and there wasn't much anyone could do to help out. Wayne found his way to our entrance and began opening, closing doors and taking the guest's coats. I remember thinking of the humility and respect Wayne had towards and for others.
He had his own family business to look after and here he was in our hallway assisting our family & guests. He clearly had more pressing things that could have very easily had him in the car and heading back down state. As you may guess, Wayne stayed until the end and asked us once more if there was anything he could do.
To the Baxter family, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. You are all truly blessed to have a such a great man in your lives.
Rest in Peace friend!
Michael Perotto
