Obituary of John A. Rowan

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Albert Rowan, was a lifelong resident of Queens, NY. He died as he lived, quietly, gently and with dignity on September 7, 2024.

The son of Marion & Thomas Rowan, he was born on October 28, 1944. He was educated in Queens where he earned his Art Degree from the City College of NY. John enlisted in the Army as a National Guard where he was honorably discharged in the 70’s.

On November 13, 1965, he married the love of his life Dianna Palmieri of Woodhaven, NY. He worked for Elizabeth Arden as the Director of Art and Design for most of their married life.

He is survived by his lovely wife of 58 years, his three wonderful children and their spouses; Andrea & James Gardener, Alison & Jarred Saba, and Maggie & John Rowan; and his six fabulous grandchildren; Michael & Eric Gardener, Kaitlyn & Samantha Saba, and Connor & Jason Rowan. He is also survived by his brother Thomas, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John loved to travel with his wife and friends and has seen a fair amount of the world.  His favorite vacation for over 40 years was his annual trip to Cape Cod with his entire family, which gave him so many wonderful and fun memories to cherish. While he was an avid Mets fan, his true, favorite pastime was cheering on all of his grandchildren in all their sports.  His life is a celebration of a life well lived and loved
